Train Travel, Inc. (formerly Trains Unlimited LLC) has been a pioneer in rail-themed entertainment since 1984, launching North America’s first modern-day dinner train, The Star Clipper, from Osage, Iowa. Since then, the company has entertained over 3 million guests with unique train experiences such as Star Clipper Dinner Trains®, Themed Family Trains, Pullman Palace Bed & Breakfast, and Steel Wheels Entertainment Trains.
With 30+ years of operating retail rail attractions, Train Travel, Inc. is now expanding with three new passenger excursion routes in the U.S. and offering international and domestic rail vacations via Amtrak, VIA Rail, Ferromex, and European rail lines. The Legacy of Train Travel, Inc.
On August 4, 1984, North America’s first-ever dinner train departed from Osage, Iowa — introducing a unique blend of chef-prepared meals and live entertainment aboard The Star Clipper. This groundbreaking concept was co-founded by railroad visionary Jack Haley and our original company, Trains Unlimited LLC (later acquired by Train Travel, Inc.).
The Star Clipper quickly expanded from Iowa to Michigan, Texas, and Missouri, bringing unforgettable rail dining experiences to over 3 million passengers. From charming small towns to bustling metro areas, our trains created a nostalgic yet modern journey unlike any other.
In 2006, Railmark Holdings, Inc. acquired the company, expanding our services through digital innovation and broader marketing efforts. Despite economic challenges in 2008, Train Travel, Inc. remained resilient — even contributing to Michigan’s 900-mile pedestrian rail trail project by selling a key rail segment in 2009.
Our operations continued in Florida and Missouri through 2014, after which we began preparing for a new era. Since 2015, Train Travel, Inc. has been reimagining its brand, focusing on strategic U.S. markets and international tourism partnerships.
With over 30 years of excellence, we proudly continue to deliver memorable rail experiences for all ages — and we’re just getting started.
